Below are some of the educational and play-based activities that the ‘Chimes’ childminders and their children enjoy on a regular basis: Toddler groups There are many groups in Market Harborough through the week and ‘Chimes’ run 2 of these on a regular basis. They provide fun ways for the children to socialise and form friendships as well as offering art and craft activities, singing times and lots of different toys to enjoy. Visits and Outings There are so many ways for the children to enjoy the great outdoors and Chimes childminders have a range of places to visit in and around Market Harborough. We often enjoy picnics in the local parks, making the most of the play equipment and sand pits or just go for a nature walk. Some of the places Chimes members visit regularly are listed below:-
Library Visits to the library enable the children to choose which books they would like to take back with them. Harborough library also has 2 ‘wriggly readers’ sessions a week when the children listen to a range of stories read out to them and opportunities to interact with the storyteller. These are just a few examples of the ways in which the members of ‘Chimes’ can enable the children in their care to have fun while providing learning opportunities and promoting the ‘six areas of learning’ and implementing the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’. And ‘Chimes’ childminders can offer more than this. Parents send their children to childminders because they offer a home from home environment. A mum from mum environment. A place where minders have time to spend cuddling their children, reading stories or exploring the local area with them and thereby enjoying as near normal a growing up environment as they themselves would like to give. This is perhaps the most important aspect of the care we can offer.
